Red Hen Kitchen is a small, family-run bakery in Eugene. Everything is made from scratch, without rushing a thing — crusty sourdough loaves, golden focaccia, bagels, English muffins, cookies, and cake, the kind of baking we'd put on our own table.
Homestyle baking, done the old-fashioned way
Red Hen Kitchen LLC started in Eugene, Oregon in June 2024, built around one hardworking sourdough starter and a simple idea: bake bread patiently, loaf by loaf, and bake it well — the way you'd bake it at home for people you love.
Everything starts with that starter. Our signature sourdough gets a deep, tangy flavor and a crackling crust, and even our focaccia — a customer best seller — is made with our sourdough starter, which gives it a flavor you won't find anywhere else. The loaves are big, the crumb is open, every round is scored one at a time, and every loaf is checked before it goes out the door. It's homemade baking, through and through — just on a bakery's schedule.
Red Hen Kitchen is run by Erin Even and his wife, Elizabeth Even, together with our seven-person team. In October 2026 we launched our wholesale program with our three core breads: Sourdough, Focaccia, and Earl's Soft Sourdough. Wholesale deliveries run Tuesdays and Fridays.
